If you’re expecting new business leads from your marketing investment this quarter, content marketing is not the strategy for you. Invest your money elsewhere.
[yep, I said it]
Yet, content marketing can be an extremely lucrative strategy with a killer ROI. Great content marketing isn’t expensive (compared to those short-term strategies that will get you results this quareter) and its impact will build over time.
What makes content marketing so successful in the long-term? Here are 3 reasons:
- The more helpful content you create, the more you can intertwine your own content, making you the subject-matter expert on that topic (repurposed and internally linked content FTW!)
- Typically, it takes 18ish months for a new piece to rank on a SERP (search engine results page). Being ranked #1 for your top keywords on Google or Bing is super valuable, but takes time.
- A library of well-crafted content makes all your other communications easier. This library will help define and fine-tune your brand and create fodder for communications outside of marketing.
These are just three reasons why small business owners invest in content marketing.
I love content marketing for myself and my clients because I know that well-crafted, helpful content does the bragging on our behalf. When you “give away” great advice for free, your prospects get a sneak peek of how your expertise, product, or service could help them reach their goals.
